Take a Breathe, Step Away, Experience the Difference

Looking for something different for your group? Delaney Stables offers hands-on experiences that get people out of their usual environment and into the world of horses, barn life, and the outdoors.
You don’t need to be a horse person. Many of our experiences require no previous horse experience at all. However, if you’re interested in horses, we can accommodate that too.
Programs can be adapted to your group, the time you have available, and what you would like to experience.
Horsemanship: Leading & Grooming
Learn the basics of working safely and thoughtfully with a horse. Participants learn how to approach, groom, handle, and lead a horse while developing an understanding of horse behavior and communication.

Horsemanship to Riding
Experience what goes into a riding lesson from beginning to end. Participants learn to groom and prepare a horse, tack up, ride, untack, and care for the horse afterward.
Riding activities are subject to appropriate horse-and-rider matching, including size and weight considerations.
In-Hand Horsemanship
Working with a horse doesn’t always mean getting in the saddle. Through leading, obstacles, and other ground exercises, participants learn to communicate with a horse, pay attention to its responses, and adjust their approach.

Experience Life at the Barn
What does it really take to keep a barn and its horses going? Participants become part of the daily routine, helping with appropriate barn chores and horse care. Depending on the group and season, this may include feeding, watering, cleaning, moving hay, handling horses, and other jobs that are part of everyday life at the stable. It’s a chance to experience the work, responsibility, and satisfaction that come with caring for horses.
Explore & Navigate
Orienteering
Get outside and learn to navigate using a map, compass, watch, and the trail system at Delaney Stables. Participants work through a series of navigation challenges while developing observation, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Other Possibilities
These are just a few ideas. Depending on your group and interests, we can also incorporate different obstacles, visit a horse event at GMHA or another venue, or develop other horse- and farm-related activities.
Make It a Day—or a Multi-day Retreat
Our individual experiences generally run 2–4 hours and can be repeated or combined to create a multi-day experience.
If you’re traveling to the area, we can help you build a larger retreat around your time at Delaney Stables. Local lodging, yoga, massage, meeting space, and area attractions can all be part of the plan.
- Lodging: There is a hotel/resort nearby that offers lodging and conference/meeting space.
- Yoga: A local yoga instructor is available to provide sessions at her location nearby.
- Massage: A local massage therapist is available.
- Area attractions: There are numerous opportunities for hiking, history, recreation, dining, and other activities in the surrounding area.
Designed Around Your Group
Experiences can be combined or adapted depending on your group, the amount of time available, and what you would like to accomplish.
We work with businesses, schools, organizations, community groups, faith groups, clubs, and retreat groups.
Have something else in mind? Tell us about your group and what you’re hoping to experience. We can work with you to create a program that fits.
